We’ve known him to be quite calm and temperate. But this time, Jean-Paul Mira, head of the intensive care unit at Cochin Hospital in Paris, infuriated Didier Drogba.

Indeed, on the set of the French channel LCI, the French doctor suggested that studies on a coronavirus vaccine, particularly those focusing on the BCG vaccine, should be conducted in Africa. "If I may be provocative, shouldn't we conduct this study in Africa, where there are no masks, no treatments, no intensive care? A bit like what has been done for some studies on AIDS. Among prostitutes, we try things because we know they are highly exposed and they don't protect themselves," suggested Jean-Paul Mira.

This suggestion was found inconceivable and insulting by the former iconic captain of the Ivorian Elephants.

"It is inconceivable that we continue to accept this. Africa is not a laboratory. I strongly denounce these grave, racist, and contemptuous remarks! Help us save lives in Africa and stop the spread of this virus that is destabilizing the whole world, instead of considering us as guinea pigs. It is absurd! African leaders have the responsibility to protect the populations from these abominable plots. May God protect us!" protested the President of the Didier Drogba Foundation.
